How do I make a purchase on White Gown?

Purchasing a wedding dress via White Gown is really easy and totally within your control. If you see something you like, you will need to:

  1. Contact the seller directly about the item
  2. Negotiate and agree on a price
  3. If you would like to, set up a time with the seller to inspect the item (highly recommended for big ticket wedding items like your wedding dress!)
  4. Inspect, pay, and collect!

How do I search for a Wedding Dress that is for sale?

Finding your perfect wedding dress on White Gown is easy. You can define your search by location, designer, size, price, fabric, colour and / or shape.

Start by clicking Dresses at the top of any page and search to find exactly what you’re looking for.

Alternatively simply browse through our list of designers.

How do I contact the seller?

All you have to do is click on the ‘Contact Seller’ button that’s listed on the item page. Your enquiry will be automatically sent to the seller, who will then respond directly to you via email or phone.

What if the item is on the other side of the country? Who pays for shipping?

Normally shipping fees are something the buyer will need to pay for. Make sure you ask the seller whether shipping and postage costs are included in the price and if they aren’t, you could ask them to get a quote. Remember to use Registered Post so that you can track your item (Registered Post also means the parcel and its contents is insured.)

How long will my items be listed on White Gown?

Your item will be listed on our website for 12 months.

How long will it take to sell my wedding dress?

There are a lot of factors that weigh in to the time it will take to sell your wedding dress including the style, your location or the price you have listed your wedding dress for. If your items don’t sell as quickly as you would like, we recommend that you consider lowering the price or re-listing your item so that it appears back at the top of the page and at the top of search results.

Do I have to pay to list my wedding dress?

We have a once-off listing fee at White Gown. There are no ongoing fees, no commissions and no hidden costs.

My wedding dress isn’t selling. What can I do?

By re-listing your wedding dress it is as though you are creating a brand new listing (even though you’re not really, because your item has already been online for a while). By re-listing your item it automatically moves back to the top of the search result list. It’s a great way to attract new buyers that mightn’t have been looking on the site when you first listed your item/s. To re-list your item you will need to pay your listing fee again.

Do you have any tips to make my listing stand out?

We really can’t stress how important it is to include high quality photographs in your listing – the better the photographs you have, the more customers will understand your items and want to buy them. We suggest including:

  • A photograph of the item in full

Show your potential buyers what the item looks like as a whole and give them a chance to see what it will look like to others.

  • A close up of the item

Show any embellishments or unique features of the item in a close-up shot.

  • An example of the item in use

Using photographs from your own wedding gives buyers fresh ideas of how the items have been used previously.

A photograph from your own wedding adds an emotional element and should act as a great way to show people how special your item is!

How do I work out what to sell my wedding dress for?

Obviously your wedding dress will hold significant value to you, but don’t forget that they are second hand once used and emotional value doesn’t equate well to real-life dollars and cents. Remember that your buyer isn’t emotionally connected to your wedding dress (yet). Take a deep breath and try reworking your numbers. You could also try looking on other sites such as eBay or Gumtree to see what similar items are worth.

How long does it take for my listing to get posted on the website?

After you have submitted your ad, your listing is live on the site immediately.

Oops – I found a typo. How do I edit my listing?

After you have logged in, you can edit your listing for free by going into My Account. Select the product listing and edit the text or images you would like to change.

How will buyers contact me?

You will be contacted by buyers via email through the website.

I have an interested buyer in my Wedding Dress! What do I do?

If you have an interested buyer, you both need to agree to the terms of the sale. Use this checklist to help you make sure these terms are clear. It is also a good idea to do this over email so you have the terms in writing:

  • Have you both agreed on the selling price?
  • Do you both agree on the process of when and how payment will be made?
  • Have you discussed shipping and delivery of the item? Don’t forget to discuss insurance.
  • Have you confirmed the method of payment? We suggest cash, Direct Deposit or Paypal – these are the safest options. We strongly advise that you don’t ship your items until full payment has been made to you.

Hooray – my item has sold.

How do I remove the listing? Once you are logged in, you can remove you’re listing by going to My Account and selecting the remove listing option.

What payment methods are accepted?

All major credit cards are accepted. POLi is also accepted

We accept payment via PayPal, including all payments made by credit card or debit card and POLi. If you do not have a PayPal account, you are still able to pay for your purchase with a credit or debit card using PayPal's guest checkout service.

If you do have a PayPal account, it's even easier. Simply sign in to your PayPal account on the payment page to use your existing balance.

Using PayPal means we never get access to your private credit card information.

What is POLI?

POLi is an online payment option which facilitates a Pay Anyone internet banking payment from a your bank account to a merchants.

Why choose POLi?

POLi is a great alternative for people without credit cards, or for those who have them - but would prefer not to use them to shop online. POLi helps guides you through the payment process. The amount, reference information and banking details are pre-populated. When the payment is confirmed the merchant and customer both receive a completed payment notification.

How does POLi work?

  • Select your bank and click proceed with payment
  • Log in directly to your bank
  • Follow the prompts to complete the Pay Anyone transaction (this may include selecting your account or entering a second factor information)
  • Complete the payment and receive your receipt

Is there is any cost for paying with POLi?

No. There are no fees or charges when paying using POLi.
